Courses from SchoolhouseTeachers are a must for all homeschoolers, whether you are a boxed curriculum homeschooler, eclectic or unschooler this site has something for your student with 400+ classses. Our homeschool has tended towards the boxed curriculum (we have started branching out in recent years though) but it was always missing something. I’ve found what was missing and it was SchoolhouseTeachers.com, there are all sort of goodies to find on this site.

It just so happens that my son was given an acoustic guitar as a gift and he has been getting library books on how to play the guitar, but they have been either way over his head or contained music that does not fit our family values. As we looked over the site we came across the guitar lessons.

Our son has only been using the guitar lessons from Schoolhouseteachers for about a week and a half and by no means is he jammin’ out on the guitar, but he is making music and not just noise anymore. LOL!

A great feature of SchoolhouseTeachers site has unit for parents, it has a monthly menu feature and more.

Another area that I liked was the logic section. We have always struggled with teaching logic in our homeschool, so I was thrilled to see Logic on the drop down menu under middle school. I like how the lessons are set up so that my son can just go right in and get started. It has helped foster independence on his part. I know that we have a few years to go before college, but when I look at the SchoolhouseTeachers website, I’m thinking about how using this site will help our son out in the long run. Online college classes are the future for many of our children and what better way for them to be prepared than by teaching them in pre/k & elementary, middle school and high school with methods that they will continue to use down the road.

We plan to continue searching through all the goodies over the next year that SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers. Post and let me know what you think of the site and how it's enhanced your homeschool.

  • Each of our planners is interactive, allowing you to enter your children’s information – daily lessons, monthly agendas, curriculum choices, semester goals, etc.
  • No need to print every single page. Print what you need when you need it.
  • Flexibility to change your homeschooling plan on the fly. Customize the planner to fit your needs. Or, send the whole thing to a local printer and let them bind it for you.

I have been using their planners for several years and I LOVE them!!

Enjoy!

FREEBIE!! Homeschool Planner and Organizer

Free homeschool resources Ok, so first off let me say that I impress myself. LOL I was actually able to copy some HTML and figure out how to get it to show up in my blog. Let me say it again "IMPRESSIVE" lol.  Thank you for the round of applauds!! (Cathy in CA I know you are grinning at me, 'cause you know just how computer savy I am ;-) Yes, Val in MI also big grin on your face too. This website has some neat freebies for the homeschooler and even for those that don't home educate. There are some neat calendars, menu planners and grocery lists to print off. You can pick from lined or unlined versions. Pretty cool I think!  Here is the link to The Home School Mom. It also has Flylady compatible pages. Everyone needs a little bit of organization in their lives, we serve an orderly God and rightly so we should follow his ways. Here are two random Bible verse that I have come up with that make me see how God is organized.

Exodus 26:17
"Two tenons shall there be in one board, set in order one against another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle."
Exodus 39:37
"The pure candlestick, with the lamps thereof, even with the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and the oil for light,"

How much better can we serve when we have our house in order? OK, convicting, going to go and clean off the kitchen table, that seems to be the hustle and bustle of our home and it get in disarray quickly. Flylady would call that a HOT SPOT and mine is a blazin'! Where is your HOT SPOT?

Have a great weekend!

p.s. How is that Pantry Challenge going?

Back to school day!

How is your back to school day going? We did school on and off during Christmas break since we like to take time off in February for cabin fever.

Our first day back starts with homeschool bowling, our son loves PE and bowling is a fine way to get it in.

Are you starting anything new and exciting this semester? We are going to finish up Latin and start on Proverbs People from The Learning Parent, love all the materials from the Boyer family. Click the link to see what they have going on. They are running a sale right now and a lot of items. They are Godly conference speakers and have 14 kids and started homeschooing back in 1980. Check them out!

Have a wonderful day back.
