Blessings In The Time Of COVID-19

I was blessed by one of my professors from a secular school today in an email. The said that they were taking a 3-step approach to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  1. Praying for God's protection from catching the virus.
  2. If I get it that the Lord will heal me.
  3. If God does not heal me, then I am going home to meet Jesus.
This is such a sensible approach for Christians to take. If you're reading this and you are not familiar with what is being shared here. Please click over to NeedHim.org for details. You won't regret it.
If you've made a decision for Jesus, post below in the comment, we would love to hear all about it.

I've Been Thinking...

I've had a lot of time to think in between study sessions, it dawned on me that now we know how Apostle Paul felt in prison, he wanted to be able to be out ministering and sharing the Gospel with others. The Lord also kept Paul on house arrest for a reason and his ministry flourished. Bloom where you are planted for this growing season.

Are you a good mom?

I've been pondering that question for awhile now as I've been sick again with corn allergies sneaking up on me from somewhere. I've been miserable and tend to make everyone else miserable during this time. ( or so I think!)

I read a blog post about stay at home moms and as I read through it, I got thinking about what in my mind a good mom is and what a good housekeeper is. Well here is what I came up with, that I picture in my own mind when I think of a good mom and how my home should look.

A clean bedroom, toys picked up and kids playing well together.

The house is always neat, never any dirty dishes in the sink and bedrooms are neat.

Clean house, everything in it's place, bedrooms neat and tidy and no piles of dirty laundry.

Smiling happy kids, no dirty dishes, no piles of dirty laundry and clean bedrooms.

Where on earth did I ever get the mindset that this is what my life should be like with my family? Of course there is no dirty laundry, dirty dishes, piles of mail and magazines, messy cluttered kids rooms or toys all strewn about. These are FAKE homes, they are sets/props in which people/actors PRETEND to be homemakers, wives and mothers. Wow can our perspectives on life really be that inspired and convinced by years of media? I'm saddened that I allowed myself to believe this lie, of how things should be in my life. Is this what the Lord has for me? Am I reaping His very best for my life and my family?  Here is a link to the blog post, I hope it helps you to gain the perspective that the Lord has for you and your home. http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/trevinwax/2012/08/

May you find blessings in your family life this week.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!
Oh, wait it's only Christmas at my house......lol. UPS delivered our homeschooling books today. You would think it was Christmas morning around here. Our son is just begging to get into the box. I think I will wait for a rainy day before I let him open it. hehehehe.

Am I mean?

I just praise my Lord and Savior for the blessing that homeschooling has been and is to our family. Just seeing the love of learning that our son has now it's incredible.  There are not many "I don't want to go to school days" anymore. Life of course is no where near perfection, but God's word in the Bible does not promise perfection in our earthly lives.

We have more "What are we learning today" days and that is a blessing. Another one I like to hear is, "Can we do another Bible lesson?" I also take on questions such as "Why do we have to learn story problems?" You will have to tune in next time to hear the answer that I gave to that one.

We are spending some time this week packaging up personal hygiene bags for needy school children and then another day we will be passing those out, along with backpacks full of school supplies to needy children in our community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

AWESOME link for you & a blessing I got.

AWESOME link!! Click here to head on over to "Denverbargins.com" she has a great article on pantry challenges. Sounds like she is really trying to tighten her belt, but a few of the suggestions would pertain to a great many of us right here and now.

Now for my blessing, as many of you know I love visionforum.com and we buy a lot from that site. I bought the DVD Tea with Michelle Duggar, I know, I know, some of you don't care for the show, so please have a great day & skip this post  :O)

I was so blessed by the DVD and plan to have my family watch it with me.
As an adoptive mom (I've had 4 miscarriages) to an only child, I so enjoy the Duggar's take on parenting and children. She has never made me feel less of a mom for not being able to "be fruitful and multiply", she has shown me the blessings of having even just one child. I really got a lot of out the video on how to train my child in the ways of the Lord, simple, easy ways. WOW!!  I also laughed when she spoke of the piles of laundry and 2 hours of washing dishes (things that can't be put in the dishwasher) and how to get your kids to work together. You will be blessed beyond measure from this DVD. Here is a link for more info Tea with Michelle Duggar. They have the DVD on sale this month. (I do not get any thing for posting about this DVD  :O)
Have a great Saturday and hug your child (or children!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We had a wonderful time last night, I spent the evening scrapbooking with our son, he worked on his camp pictures and I worked on his 6th birthday pictures. Around 11:00pm we both decided that we were tired and so we cleaned up our area and headed off to the living room to snuggle up and read. Dad was putting in some overtime at work so he missed out on the fun. But I packed him up some goodies in his dinner, bacon wrapped green olives, deviled eggs and some special Munchies chips.

Today we vegged out, I did a bunch of cooking and our son fell asleep on the couch from 1pm-5pm lol.....so a quiet day all the way around. I spent some time going over things for the next semester, since I may be facing a major surgery, I needed to look some things over and plan ahead.

Heard an interesting thought on Christian radio this week, it talked about waiting on God and how we need to look at it as "a waiting room experience", thought that was pretty neat. So as I wait for my medical tests at the end of January, I can just sit back relax in the GREAT physicians waiting room, it really removed some stress for me.

As you take down your Christmas decorations and pack them away, don't pack away Jesus, keep Him out this year and enjoy fellowship with Him each and every day.

Thanks for spending 2011 with me as we learned about raising chickens, butchered chickens, became gluten free, waited on the Lord, learned more from the Lord, looked through the Word of God and home educated.

Sorry to be gone for so long.........

I ended up in the hospital for 5 days with acute diverticulitis. Had an incredible ambulance ride when they transferred me to a larger hospital. Those 3 guys has me laughing all the way there!
I am to be home resting and healing up so that they can do some testing. My dh's family has been wonderful!! His sister has really helped me out tons with doctors, nurses and hospitals, it can all be so confusing when you are very ill and out of your head. My church family has been bringing meals in, how wonderful is that!! It's been a real blessing to see our son step up to the plate while I as gone. He did his school work and chores, made meals for himself and dad, he also knew where all the 'hidden' meals are in the freezer......lol. I always have some sort of chili, soup or casserole in the freezer for a quick and easy meal.

Well my point for being on here today was to share something that I found from the Bible that has been a  real encouragement to me today, as I know that I am not the only person on the Internet feeling poorly today. I was pouting around this afternoon, had a very bad day reflux wise, as I am flared up from my throat all the way down to my colon  :P      Ended up on the phone with the nurse 2x and finally think I will make it through until tomorrow when they want to see me again. So here it is.

Weakness in the Bible: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
It is a paradox of Christianity that true strength is found in weakness. Jesus himself embodied the world's idea of weakness, even to the point of submitting to an excruciating death. However, just as Christ's saving power worked through that "weakness," so God's power is often most visible in the midst of suffering, humility, and weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (KJV)
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

I do have a few prayer requests:
1. No more reactions to antibiotics (had 3 in the hospital)
2. Antibiotics will be effective since I am on so many stomach drugs
3. No more blood thinners, these T.E.D. Hose are driving me crazy!
4. DH can concentrate on learning his new job, lots of reading and testing along with the stress of me being ill.
5. Insurance issues won't occur, our current insurance ends 12/31 and the new job insurance is to kick in 1/1.
6. Doctors and Nurses will be competent and know what is going on with me. Since I was told that what I have has been missed for many years and severe damage has been done. I have actually prayed that the doctors would be woke in the night thinking of my case, I pray that they will be milling it over in their mind and looking at it from all sides. This new doctors even apologized for the suffering I have endured, that in itself was a real blessing to hear.

Everyone have a wonderful week!

~Fall Break~

We have had a wonderful fall break!! Did some sightseeing and relaxing. Spent a few days at the local Christian radio station helping out with the share-a-thon. Enjoyed visiting with everyone there. Our son had fun talking live on the radio with all the air personalities. He says he wants to be a DJ like his Mother.....LOL. YIKES!!! Not the career of my choice for him!! In the words of my husband "Pray, Pray without ceasing."

As I mention above that quote from my husband, I have been doing some praying and the Lord has been faithful in answering. We have added in water lines to our home construction project and I had been praying about the water heating going out so we could get a new one, as our well water is contaminated, I did not want the new water lines running through the old nasty water heater. But my husband did not see it as much of a problem, so I prayed about it. And the other day my husband came into the bedroom to announce "The water heater is leaking in the basement, I guess we will have to replace it!" LOL.....I laughed out loud and told him I had been praying, he shoots back with "Well you better start praying about how we are going to pay for a new one!"

Fast forward to today, I had been praying about getting an outside water spout for watering our animals and guess what? The contractor/plumber put one in! I grinned really big at my husband and told him I had been praying again!

Have a wonderful week!

Old friends & Proverbs

There is nothing like a surprise of running into old friends. Today while at my sons game I ran into two mommy friends of mine, one a homeschooling mom and another a public school math teacher mom. Both I love dearly. They are the type of ladies that you don't find too often in your life: real, caring and sincere all rolled into one (well two in this case).

We are all busy with our families and we don't 'socialize' together, but whenever we run into each other it's like we have never been apart, we just start chatting. It's a blessing to share things and find that I'm not the only one to get the "Mother of the Year" award (meaning we have really had a major goof as a mom!) lol. It's nice to share a struggle or an area that needs prayer from an understanding mom.

It's exciting to see how the Lord uses each of these ladies, public school math teacher mom has an AWESOME ministry to her public school kids. She cares for each of her students, prays for them and they know that she cares about them. Homeschool mom has taught me about being more calm in addressing things with my son, having more patience in school, and not fretting over teaching to the test.

I just had to share this blessing in my life. The Lord provides people in our lives for the season we are in.
Proverbs 13:20 "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

Have a wonderful weekend!
