Eviliptical: Is that a real word?

Well we are back to working out, it's been slow. I started out walking 30 minutes on the treadmill and biking 15 minutes, five days a week along with 3 days of weight lifting. I have since added in the Elliptical. I can sure tell that my lower abdominal muscles have been messed with and cut, they are not real happy with the work I am doing.

I went for my workout/fitness evaluation and I was scared, I thought for sure that I had lost everything that I had done exercise wise since I've been down and out. Guess what? Even the fitness coordinator was surprised! I did pretty well, I did not lose that much in terms of cardio and overall fitness. My surgeon had even commented back in April about my recovery time, that he could tell that I did not live a sedentary lifestyle. So as I feel my legs burning like crazy on the Elliptical (Eviliptical I call it!) I think back to what my surgeon said and what the fitness coordinator said and I push onward!

My goal is 30 minutes on the Elliptical by June 1, I am up to 12 minutes + 30 minutes of either the treadmill or the bike. Once I get to the 30 minute goal on the Elliptical, I plan to try the MIX 3, which is a program on that machine that both the child and husband like. I don't much care for peddling backwards and trying to read screen prompts while I workout. (I feel like I am going to fall on my behind when I do that.  LOL).

It feels good to be back!

What this home school Momma liked about One Minute Mysteries: 65 More Short Mysteries You Solve With Science!

1) I like how it brought science to life with everyday topics
2) LOVE the critical thinking skills that you need to solve these mysteries.
3) The book was easy to use, we brought it in the car with us and would read while we were going down the road. (beats the Ipod being on…lol)
4) This would be a fun summer time book, learning while on break is always great.
5) Covers Life Sciences, Earth & Space Sciences, Physical & Chemical Sciences and General Sciences.
6) The stories were written in a fun way and engaged our son very well.

What this home school momma did not like about  One Minute Mysteries: 65 More Short Mysteries You Solve With Science!

1) Wish that they had been a bit more challenging, but the book is for 8-12 year olds and my student is almost 13, so it’s for the younger kids.

What this home school student liked about One Minute Mysteries: 65 More Short Mysteries You Solve With Science!

1) I liked how some were easy and some were hard.

2) They made me have to think.

3) The book was fun.

What this home school student did not like about One Minute Mysteries: 65 More Short Mysteries You Solve With Science!

1) Wish that there was more of a clear break between the mystery and the solution, because it was way too easy to just accidental flip the page and start reading the answer. Maybe like a picture of a STOP SIGN at the end of each mystery to remind you to STOP!
2) Wish that there were more books by them to read.

I think that these would be fun for using on a sporadic basis during science class. A fun thing to pull out and surprise the kids with during summer break.

I wish that they would come out with a book for chemistry, biology and physics for older kids.

Special offer from Science Naturally: purchase any 3 books from the Science Naturally by clicking here and get 3 books for $19.95 with shipping of just $2.95 (these retail for $35.80 a $12.90 savings just for reading my review!) Enter coupon code 3SPEC in your shopping cart. ENJOY!

Missed The Call From The Mayo Clinic Doctor :O(

Well as I was getting ready to teach a class at the local college, I noticed my cell phone vibrating. I did not have a missed call, but had a voicemail. Guess who? LOL (really that should be NLM or No Laughing Matter) It was my Mayo Clinic doctor calling with my results and also to tell me that he was going out of town for awhile. How on earth could this be that I missed his call. Though he did have some good news for me, he told me that my lab tests all came out fine, but that there was more to talk about and discuss. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Well I guess we will just have to wait until he gets back in town.

So we wait and wait and wait a bit longer. The child says "Mom, maybe the Lord wants to you to learn patience?"

I'm spending my days of waiting on the phone call by trying to unearth piles of junk mail that have accumulated while I have been ill. Boy does being ill bring about a whole new perspective on things. I am thrilled to be able to do housework again, is that weird or what? lol. Though leaning over into the washing machine to get that last sock out is a killer, I'm short and have to really lean into the machine and it hurts my body, I still feel very bruised if I lean on something. Hoping that will go away soon.
